Mirasty playing part-time in Quebec-based hockey league
Jon Mirasty’s lifelong love of hockey is one of his many passions, and this year he’s got a unique opportunity to play for a semi-pro league in Quebec.
This coming weekend, the Flying Dust First Nation man will hit the ice as a part of the Trois-Rivières Draveurs of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey. The season kicks off on Friday, Oct. 6.
“I’ll be flying out Thursdays, I’ll play Friday and Saturday and fly home Sundays,” he said. “I’m going to remain living here. I don’t know if I’ll make every weekend, but it’s an opportunity for me to continue playing.”
This schedule will allow him to spend weeks with his family and at his day job as a teacher at Kopahawakenum School.
