Humboldt crash victim misidentified: Ministry of Justice

One of the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy was misidentified, according to Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Justice.

“Last night it was discovered that two members of the Humboldt Broncos Junior ‘A’ hockey team had been incorrectly identified as one another,” Justice Spokesperson Drew Wilby said in a statement released Monday morning.

The deceased player was incorrectly identified as Xavier Labelle, Wilby said, who is not deceased. The deceased player was in fact 18-year-old goalie Parker Tobin, Wilby said, who was previously believed to have survived.

“The Office of the Chief Coroner apologizes for the misidentification and any confusion created by it,” Wilby said. “The Coroner’s office extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost their lives as well as those who were involved in the collision.”
