Wind warning ends for the Battlefords area

Feb 6, 2016 | 8:16 PM

People in the Battlefords area were warned Saturday night of the possibility of damaging wind gusts.

A wind warning, which had earlier been effect in the Kindersley-Rosetown-Biggar-Wilkie-Macklin region was reissued Saturday at around 9 p.m. and the Battlefords area was now included. The affected region also includes St. Walburg, Maidstone, Unity, and other areas in between. The warning for the Battlefords ended at around 11:45 p.m. but remained in effect for Kindersley and parts of the southwest.

Environment Canada said an Alberta clipper was making its way through the region, with wind speeds expected to reach 70-100 km/h until later in the evening.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” at those speeds, the advisory said.
