Adolescent Sexual Health Conference
The Adolescent Sexual Health Conference will be in Regina on February 11, 2016
Adolescent pregnancy rates and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Saskatchewan are among the highest in Canada. The number of people testing positive for HIV in Saskatchewan is also almost twice the Canadian average. Prevention is key; highlighting the importance of sexual health education for Saskatchewan youth.
Sexual health education is associated with several positive outcomes including:
- Youth having first sexual encounter at an older age
- Increased condom use and overall contraceptive use
- Increased knowledge about sexual behaviour and its consequences
