Meadow Lake & District Humane Society

We would like to take a moment to remind the public that we are a 100% volunteer run shelter.

Our volunteers all have day jobs, so emails, Facebook messages and phone messages will be answered as soon as a volunteer is available to do so.

We have an adoption application process for animals that are in our care. This is not intended to be a “run around” or an “inconvenience”. The animals in our care deserve the best home possible and we require all interested parties to fill out an application and be approved.

We work with these animals every day and know their personalities the best and which homes would be best suited for them.

We have the right to refuse any application if we do not deem it suitable.

We also offer viewings of animals by appointment ONLY.

If you are approved to adopt an animal, pick up arrangements are also by appointment ONLY.

We will do our very best to accommodate adopters but again, we are run by volunteers so it will depend on when we have a volunteer available. Not all of our volunteers are trained on the adoption process, or are aware of which animals are pending adoption.

If your pet has been impounded by Bylaw Enforcement, please deal with City Hall, as we are not responsible for the collection of City Fines and release of City Impounds.

Abuse of any sort in any form will not be tolerated. Remember – the workers at our shelter are all volunteers.
