Puppy Rescue

Jun 21, 2016 | 8:01 AM

We were contacted recently about 5 newborn puppies that were dropped off at the vet clinic after some kids had found them in a community 40 minutes outside of Meadow Lake.

Armed with formula for bottle feeding they were brought into foster care. It was later discovered that their mom was still in the community, so volunteers went out in a thunder storm to try and find her.

With the help of people in the community she was found underneath the foundation of a demolished house. Her puppies were brought in a kennel and used to coax her out. Once she heard their cries she came out of hiding and a volunteer was able to get a leash on her.

Mama and babes were brought back to their foster home and finally reunited. She was so excited to be with her babies, and their foster home was relieved to be reprieved of bottle feeding duty!

Today we received a message that there were 2 newborn puppies that were taken from kids who were carrying them around yesterday. They were found in the same area as the 5, and look identical so we believe they are siblings. Their finder bottle fed them while they searched for their mom. They were brought to our shelter this morning and quickly brought to their foster home to be reunited with mom and siblings.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in their rescue! Mama and puppies are doing well and puppies will be available for adoption once they are 8 weeks old (End of July).
