Late evening walk home leads to fight for motel guests
A Meadow Lake motel had quite the incident last week with RCMP showing up after complaints of a brawl outside.
On Aug. 25, officers received a call reporting a group of people fighting with knives and shovels in front of Nor’Wester Motor Inn. Those involved in the fight were not patrons of Milltown Sports Bar, however, were guests of the motel.
The brawl happened around 1 a.m. Chris Blais, one of the people involved, said it started when he and some friends were walking back to their room from the Waiki Bar. Heading down an alley, they got in an argument with someone which quickly turned into a fist fight.
“Gave him a few shots then carried on walking. This car pulled up and a guy jumped out, I went over to him and he had a knife so we ran, came here (Nor’Wester Motor Inn), they pulled up again so we grabbed some shovels off the truck and that’s when the cops showed up and arrested the guy with the knife,” Blais said.
