Rangers teammates Andrus, Odor share pain of costly errors against Blue Jays
TORONTO — Texas Rangers teammates Elvis Andrus and Rougned Odor have a lot to discuss following their Game 3 American League Division Series loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.
On Sunday, in what should’ve been a routine 6-4-3 double play to end the 10th inning, Odor’s throw to first baseman Mitch Moreland was offline, allowing Josh Donaldson to plate the winning run in the Blue Jays’ 7-6 win. In Game 5 of the 2015 ALDS, it was Andrus who made two seventh inning errors leading to an eventual 6-3 Toronto victory.
“It’s something I’m not going to forget, I’m just going to keep working hard, do my best in the off-season and come back strong,” Odor said. “(Edwin Encarnacion) slid into the base. I just pulled the ball a little bit. There’s nothing I can do now. I tried to throw the ball good, but I just pulled it a little bit.”
Last fall, Andrus made two of the three Rangers errors in the seventh inning, which ultimately led to Jose Bautista’s three-run home run.
