Nov 28, 2016 | 10:39 AM

The government of Saskatchewan is near an agreement with the federal government on emissions.

Ottawa announced last weekthat coal-generated plants would be phased out by 2030.

It has been announced that the province has almost reached an equivalency agreement that would in principle allow Saskatchewan to continue to use coal, so long as it reaches emissions targets and continue toward a green future.

SaskPower has a plan to be 50 per cent renewable power by 2030.
