Make pre-Christmas memories in Prince Albert NP – cut your own Christmas tree and help maintain the Waskesiu Community Fuel Break

Prince Albert National Park developed a community fuel break around Waskesiu in 2002. Since then, a number of young spruce trees have grown back, limiting the effectiveness of the fuel break.

Many of these pretty spruce would make great Christmas trees.

Prince Albert National Park is open year-round and there are many great activities for visitors to enjoy this time of year.

On your next visit – between now and December 25 – make some pre-Christmas memories. You are invited to cut your own tree from the community fuel break around Waskesiu.

Important things to remember:

You must have a valid day or annual pass.
A tree permit is required and can be picked up at the Visitor Centre (open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm) in Waskesiu at no cost. A map and information on how to harvest and where to find the perfect Christmas tree is located at the Visitor Centre.
The tree must be accessed on foot – so wear good winter boots!
The tree must be cut down with a handsaw or axe. (All-terrain vehicles and chainsaws are not permitted.)
