Mar 16, 2017 | 1:19 PM

Saskatoon police are responding to a suspicious package at a downtown office building.

A police spokesperson said emergency crews received a call just before noon from the River Centre, located at the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and 19th Street East.

An employee at the centre confirmed to 650 CKOM the KPMG office is where the package was found.

Fire and hazmat crews are on scene, while police control the perimeter.

As of 12:15 p.m., people were allowed to use the building’s stairways and elevators. Some workers told 650 CKOM they were told to go home.

KPMG is one of several businesses located inside River Centre.

On its website, KPMG describes itself as a professional services firm, providing business with audits and accounting, risk management, business advisory, tax and private company services.
