Jan 25, 2018 | 12:39 PM

Loon Lake RCMP have arrested and charged a man with several offences, after a routine traffic stop revealed a large quantity of marijuana and a dangerous weapon.

On Jan. 23 at approximately 4 p.m., members of the Loon Lake Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway #699, west of Loon Lake, Sk.

The investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle did not possess a valid driver’s license, and the member detected an odour of what was believed to be marijuana.

The RCMP then searched the vehicle and 44 packages of marihuana and a large machete were found inside the vehicle.

Police have charged Kirk Crookedneck, 25, of Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and one count of obstruction.

Crookedneck has been released by a Justice of the Peace and will appear in Loon Lake Provincial Court on Mar. 22.

Police also charged a 21-year-old female of Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation with driving without a valid driver’s license.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
