Saint-Jacques made the comment during a news conference at the Johnson Space Center in Houston where he discussed his upcoming six-month visit to the space station.

He was joined by U.S. astronaut Anne McClain and Russian Oleg Kononenko, his two travelling companions, who will be on board a Soyuz spacecraft when it launches Dec. 20 for the orbiting space laboratory from Kazakhstan.

McClain told reporters that Roscosmos, the Russian Space Agency, has convened a state commission to look into the leak and that she had “100 per cent faith” in the commission.

Speaking through an interpreter, Kononenko added that he was sure specialists will find out what went wrong, stressing that he was “positive it was an exception.”

It’s been reported that according to a top Russian offical the leak was a drill hole that happened during manufacturing or in orbit.
