ELROSE, Sask. — RCMP have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the June 29 crash that killed six people near a community in southwest Saskatchewan.

A former Humboldt Broncos player and his young family from Rosetown were among the dead in the collision near Elrose.

Police say a northbound SUV with a lone driver crossed over into the southbound lane of Highway 4 and collided with a second SUV carrying five people.

Investigators say they were not able to determine the reason for the crash, but have ruled out alcohol.
