Seymour elected mayor, Dishko takes council seat in municipal byelection
Meadow Lake has a new mayor and his name is Merlin Seymour.
He is joined around the council table by newly elected lawmaker Ron Dishko.
Seymour took 457 votes in the Wednesday byelection over Richard Levesque, who received 363 to take the mayoral seat. Dishko received 300 votes to win over Anthony Vandenberg, who got 251 and Lyndi Marchuk with 238.
The byelection was triggered in April when Gary Vidal stepped down to run for the Conservatives in the Oct. 21 federal election. The council seat was added to the byelection after after Kim Chiverton announced his resignation as of Aug. 31.
