Four out of five candidates to attend Chamber of Commerce forum
Residents of the tri-communities are welcome to a candidates forum Oct. 8 hosted by the La Ronge and District Chamber of Commerce.
That’s according to Former President Matthew Klassen, who said so far incumbent Tammy Cook-Searson (Liberal), Sarah Kraynick (Green) and Gary Vidal (Conservatives) have confirmed with the organization they would attend. larongeNOW reached out to People’s Party of Canada candidate Jerome Perrault, who also confirmed he would be there. NDP MLA Georgina Jolibois will be unable to attend the forum.
“It’s not going to be structured as a debate,” Klassen said. “What’s going to happen is we’re going to give each candidate a few minutes to introduce themselves and to lay out their party platform, followed by a number of questions from the Chamber of Commerce board members. Each candidate will be asked the same questions and we’ll give them a few minutes to answer, and we’ll see what they have to say.”
Klassen noted it is important for the Chamber of Commerce to host such events to ensure their members, as well as the general public, are aware of the platforms and opinions of each candidate, so they can make a educated vote on election day Oct. 21. He added many of the questions asked will be focused on business.
