This year’s event is bigger and better than ever according to vice-president of the local chamber of commerce, Lyndi Marchuk.

“This year we have decided to try to make it bigger by involving more businesses as well as the kids in the community. We have a free movie, a free public swim and free public skate. We also have bus services,” she said.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., three busses will head to seniors homes and assisted living homes to bring residents out to browse first.

Free swimming will be offered at Meadow Lake Aquatic Centre, free skating at Pineridge Ford Place Arena and a free movie at Aurora Cinemas Meadow Lake.

Marchuk said the Moonlight Madness event falls on the same night as the annual Holly Jolly Draw. The draw runs until Dec. 23.

“Last year we had 15 businesses participating in Holly Jolly, where this year we have 25, so that is a big jump,” Marchuk said.

This year’s theme is 12 days of Christmas for two daily draws for various prize packs.

Marchuk encourages everyone to come out to both events and shop local.

Editor’s note: the story was amended to make clear the Holly Jolly Draw starts at the same time as Moonlight Madness.
