Police seeking public assistance to locate shooting suspect

Nov 25, 2019 | 3:12 PM

Meadow Lake RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a shooting suspect still at large.

Police responded to the report of two men who were shot in a vehicle around 11 p.m. on Saturday night near the intersection of Seventh Avenue West and Fifth Street West.

A 32-year-old man suffered a single gunshot wound to his back. A 50-year-old passenger is suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

Officers went to the hospital in Meadow Lake with the victims and received information about the individuals who are allegedly responsible for the shooting.

The suspects fled the scene in a white-four door Chevy pick-up truck. Meadow Lake Traffic Services were involved and followed the suspects.

In an effort to shake the police, the suspect’s truck lost control and crashed into the bushes on Range Road 610.

Richard Angus, 37, Corey Bouvier, 30, Joshua Matheson, 25, and Charley Seright, 25, were arrested and charged with flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

No firearms were located in the vehicle at the time of the arrest.

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of 30- year-old Lennex Merasty-Morin, who is facing 13 charges including firearms-related offences in relation to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
