Library board seeks volunteers

Encouraging literacy is among many of the tasks taken on by Meadow Lake Library’s board of directors and the board is seeking more volunteers.

“We’re short for two from the RM, one from the city and one opening left for someone in Flying Dust. It’s simply more people to be a voice for a library and encourage library use throughout the community,” Branch Manager Audrey Marsh said.

The library is publicly funded and board members are asked for input toward financial decisions. Other requirements include acting as voice for the library and encouraging literacy and library use within the community. Fundraising initiative participation is often required in addition.

“It’s (the role) not so much the day-to-day tasks like checking in books but more overseeing the library’s functions and supporting it as required,” she added. “It’s straight-forward.”
