CHS Spartan’s geared up to celebrate provincial win

Dec 3, 2019 | 3:52 PM

Carpenter High School (CHS) Spartans volleyball team are ready to celebrate their big win.

The boys headed to Regina in Nov. 15 and 16 to compete in the 5A Boys Provincial Volleyball Championship where they gained the first place title against St. Mary Marauders from Prince Albert.

Cheyne Dallyn, Spartan’s Coach said he’s proud of the boy’s progress and sportsmanship.

“We played against all the big schools from around Saskatchewan and the top 10 teams from the province make it to this tournament. We went in there ranked number two and managed to beat to number one seat in the final,” Dallyn said.

According to Dallyn, this is the second time the Spartans have won a 5A championship. Their first was nearly 12 years ago.

“We’re having a celebration open to the public to celebrate our championship and share it with our fans from Meadow Lake,” Dallyn said.“It’s a huge accomplishment for us and its one that I and the boys will remember forever.”

Mayor Merlin Seymour, a representative on Gary Vidal’s behalf and the school’s principal are expected to make presentations to the community tonight. There will also be a video presentation of some of the team’s highlights from their final game.

All are welcome to celebrate the championship win at the CHS theatre on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
