Weekend shopping events in Meadow Lake ensure the perfect holiday gift

Dec 9, 2019 | 3:35 PM

Christmas is upon us and Meadow Lake can expect simultaneous events to ease the stress of holiday shopping.

The Farmers’ Market is hosting its Christmas Market at the Seniors’ Centre this weekend along with the Last Minute Christmas Craft Show at the Alliance Church Gym.

“Hopefully between the two sales going on the same day at the same time we’ll draw in the same amount of people,” Vicki Cockrum, the Farmers’ Market organizer told meadowlakeNOW.

The Farmers’ Market has been around for nearly 35 years and will offer a range of baked goods and crafts like wreaths, sewing projects, birdhouse kits, ornaments, wood carvings and puzzles, to name a few.

Glenn McCrimmon has a booth at both events and said his business, Tartan Skye Honey, sells food products with unique flavours for the adventurous palette.

“I have a Kool-Aid pickle and I’m making some wine jellies. I have lots of different flavours, the one’s you won’t traditionally find,” McCrimmon said.

Seniors will be selling a cooked lunch for holiday shoppers.

The Christmas Market is Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Last Minute Christmas Craft Show is on the same day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Editor’s note: this story was amended to reflect a change made by the organizers of the Last Minute Christmas Craft Show. It now ends at 4 p.m. not 2:30 p.m. as originally published.
