The Weather Network comes out with Spring prediction for Central Saskatchewan

Following a winter that lacked consistent cold, Central Saskatchewan residents are getting a glimpse at what is to come in the next three months.

The Weather Network released its weather predictions for March, April and May.

“We’re coming out of a winter that really lacked consistent cold. We had some back and forth, certainly some cold periods punctuated throughout but not any consistent long-term patterns,” Weather Network Meteorologist Michael Carter said. “That lack of commitment is going to be something that will carry us into the spring.”

“There will be a lot of back and forth. In terms of the temperatures, no real persistent warmth for folks who are looking forward to the first couple of weeks really [consistent] above freezing temperatures, that may still be a ways off,” Carter noted.

Looking at the three-month prediction, Carter said temperatures are expected to be average in Central Saskatchewan.

He had positive news for those in the agricultural sector looking for moisture in the fields.

“The good news is we don’t really have any areas across the country that are expecting drier than normal conditions,” Carted said. “What that means is a steady uptick in precipitation. March is typically a fairly dry month but by the time we get into April and May we’re starting to see those more [consistent] showers and thunderstorms to start to creep into the forecast,” he said.

Carter finished by saying the earlier parts of spring might see a few intrusions of cold arctic air dipping down which means for those in Central Saskatchewan, the winter gear will stay out for a little while longer.
