Mar 2, 2020 | 2:31 PM

A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a semi-truck on the side of Highway 16, east of Lashburn on Saturday.

The incident happened on the evening of Feb. 29 around 6:30 p.m. when Maidstone RCMP responded to a semi-truck colliding into a pedestrian.

According to police, two drivers were both standing outside their vehicles exchanging information after being involved in a rear-end collision. That’s when a semi-truck attempted to swerve around the collision scene and struck both vehicles, including one of the drivers standing on the roadway.

A 35-year-old woman was transported to a hospital in Lloydminster then airlifted to a hospital in Edmonton on Sunday.

The victim remains in critical condition and officers have not received reports of injury to any of the other people involved in the crash.

According to officers, visibility was near zero along with high winds and heavy snow at the time of the report. No charges have been laid as the investigation is still ongoing.

Maidstone RCMP are looking for the owners of personal property left behind at the scene. If you are the owners of these items, please call Maidstone RCMP at 306-893-4800.
