Elderly female driver killed in two-vehicle collision near Green Lake

Mar 9, 2020 | 2:16 PM

An elderly female driver has died in a two-vehicle collision near Green Lake Sunday.

Police reported Monday that Green Lake RCMP received a report on Sunday at about 2:15 p.m. of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 155, about 45 km north of Green Lake, Sask.

Police say it was reported a southbound vehicle allegedly attempted to pass a semi-tractor trailer when it collided with a northbound vehicle.

The 70-year-old female driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The youth passenger of the southbound vehicle, and the 45-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the northbound vehicle were taken to hospital in Meadow Lake. They were then each transported to Saskatoon for what were reported to be serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time. Roads were covered in snow at the time of the collision and visibility was poor.

Members from Green Lake, Meadow Lake, and Beauval detachments along with Meadow Lake Traffic Services, an RCMP collision reconstructionist, Meadow Lake EMS, Beauval Fire and Rescue, and Saskatchewan Coroners Service all responded to assist at the scene following the collision.

The RCMP investigation is ongoing.
