Stolen vehicle, illegal firearms and large gathering lead to 11 people charged near Loon Lake

On Friday, the RCMP detachments from both Loon Lake and Meadow Lake teamed up to arrest eleven people who were involved in the theft of a vehicle, illegal firearms and other property.

In addition, the 11 people were also arrested in charged by “participating in a private gathering of more than 10 people without maintaining a two-metre distancing between people.” That law went into effect under the Saskatchewan Public Health Act on Thursday—one day before the incident.

Meadow Lake RCMP located a stolen black 2000 GMC Yukon SUV going north on grid Road 699. Police officers could not stop the vehicle initially. During the pursuit, those in the vehicle threw bags outside of the Yukon, which police later discovered to have firearms inside.

After the Yukon turned west on Highway 55, several people jumped out of the Yukon and were taken into custody by police.

Police recovered firearms, narcotics and other stolen property.
