COVID-19 OUTBREAK

COVID-19 outbreak declared in Beauval

May 2, 2020 | 9:31 AM

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority have declared an outbreak of COVID-19 in the northern community of Beauval.

The official notice came around 9 p.m. Friday, hours after the SHA hinted it was coming during the daily provincial update.

In the media release, the SHA said the outbreak was linked to an increase in COVID-19 cases. A contact tracing investigation is underway.

While the health authority didn’t elaborate on the number of cases, a worker at the Beauval General Store did test positive earlier in the week.

Anyone who travelled through Beauval between April 12-27 is asked to monitor for symptoms, including fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, chills, body aches, and a diminished sense of smell.

People who notice symptoms should self-isolate immediately and contact HealthLine 811 or their community health centre.
