Student Showcase shared 39 project videos celebrating student applied research May 21,2020

Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Applied Research Student Showcase featured 39 project videos focused on solving real-world problems

.This online showcase is a celebration of the applied research projects of Sask Polytech’s innovative and passionate students. Videos of the student’s applied research projects were shared online for adjudication by judges and industry partners.

“The Applied Research Student Showcase is an important annual event and we are excited to share and celebrate the innovative work of our students,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, president and CEO. “Congratulations to all of the students in this year’s virtual showcase on a job well done! Saskatchewan Polytechnic is becoming increasingly recognized for our strength in applied research. Applied research assesses a need, proves a concept, and tests new products to refine and ready them for market. Thank you to our industry partners for your continued support our students.”

Sask Polytech faculty, researchers and students collaborate with employers on applied research projects.

These projects take many forms including product development, process design, technology adoption and proof of concept. When business and industry partners work with students, they get to keep their intellectua lproperty.

Participating in applied research gives students hands-on experience to transition seamlessly into their chosen career and positions them as an employee of choice in today’s competitive job market.“The Applied Research Student Showcase demonstrates the innovative thinking that exists at Saskatchewan Polytechnic,” says Susan Blum, associate vice-president, Applied Research and Innovation. “All students participating have previously received a $1,000 scholarship to assist with their research. Congratulations to this year’s winners. You truly are leading the way!”

The virtual Applied Research Student Showcase is an example of Sask Polytech’s efforts to maintain annual celebrations and traditions through virtual events during the COVID-19 pandemic.
