Rainy weekend across the province

A wet weekend left its mark across much of Saskatchewan.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Terri Lang, western areas of the province appeared to have the most rain.

Meadow Lake received 38 mm of rain over Saturday and Sunday. North Battleford had 32.1 mm.

In northeast Saskatchewan, the Melfort and Tisdale area had 25.6 mm, Codette had 20.3 mm, Nipawin had 19.2 mm, Hudson Bay received 16.8 mm.

Prince Albert had around 18.2 mm, and La Ronge received 21.3 mm.

Lang said the system that passed through the province on the weekend also brought with it windy conditions.

“The highest wind speeds were in the southeast corner of the province, we saw wind gusts over 90 km/h. In the northeast there not as much, wind gusts up to 70 km/h or so,” Lang said.

While we can expect more precipitation in the next couple of days, Lang said it should be more scattered than what we saw this weekend.

“Showers, maybe a thundershower, but no steady rain, no big winds or anything,” Lang said. “The rest of the week looks what we call unsettled, but not outrageous with the winds or rainfall amounts or anything.”
