RCMP respond to firearm discharged on Onion Lake First Nation

Police responded to a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near a business on the east side of Onion Lake First Nation.

On the evening of Aug. 29, Onion Lake RCMP received the report of a 35-year-old adult male who suffered multiple gunshot wounds where he was later transported to a hospital in Lloydminster for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The individuals allegedly responsible for the shooting, fled the scene in a silver four-door car. The car was later found engulfed in flames in the Maidstone area by the Maidstone RCMP.

In a release, RCMP said it is unknown exactly how many people were involved in the incident and where they are travelling to. Onion Lake RCMP continue to work to locate and arrest those responsible.

Onion Lake EMS, Lloydminster RCMP, Maidstone RCMP and Turtleford RCMP all attended the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
