The province has recorded 10 new cases of COVID-19 and three more recoveries.

The total amount of reported cases is now at 1,634. The new cases are in the Saskatoon (six), Central West (two), North Central (one) and South Central (one) zones.

All of Saskatoon’s current active cases and several of the active cases in the rest of the province are directly related to out of province travel, the Government of Saskatchewan said in its daily report to media.

Two people remain in hospital with one receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon and one in the intensive care unit in Saskatoon.

Of the 1,634 cases, 241 are travellers, 831 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 486 have no known exposures and 76 are under investigation by local public health.

Across the province, 66 cases are healthcare workers (although not all sourced their infections from work). There are 275 cases involving people aged 19 years old and younger.

There are 525 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 499 in the 40 to 59 age range, 277 in the 60 to 79 age range and 58 in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty-one per cent of cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

There are 24 deaths related to COVID-19 reported to date.

There are:

  • 419 cases from the south area (216 south west, 192 south central, 11 south east)
  • 353 cases from the far north area (347 far north west, six far north east)
  • 266 cases from the north area (130 north west, 70 north central, 66 north east)

To date, 143,451 COVID-19 tests performed in the province, with 1,325 performed in Saskatchewan.

Testing is available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms.

Province discourages non-essential interprovincial travel

The current active case number is low in Saskatchewan, but all other western provinces are experiencing increased COVID-19 transmission at this time.

Saskatchewan has a number of cases linked to interprovincial travel, both by fights and by road.

The province says while travelling interprovincially is permitted, officials are discouraging recreational travel. Unnecessary trips should be avoided, the province said.
