Early voting in the Meadow Lake 2020 Municipal Election has now ended.

Wednesday evening, the city reported 212 residents cast their vote at the advance polls, with an additional 38 votes coming in mail-in ballots.

Regular polling stations will open up Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Meadow Lake Alliance Church Gym and close at 8:00 p.m. that evening. Any Canadian citizen can vote if 18 or older and has lived in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months, and either has lived in Meadow Lake for three consecutive months or been the owner of assessable land in the City for at least three consecutive months. Two pieces of identification with the voter’s name and address will be required in the absence of photo ID.

The Meadow Lake Chamber of Commerce recently held a virtual all-candidates forum for residents to hear from the 11 council hopefuls. Amongst the field, there are four incumbents running for re-election. Mayor Merlin Seymour acclaimed his position after no challenger emerged during the nomination period.
