Nov 5, 2020 | 6:07 PM

At the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon residents from all over the province helped raise just over $640,000 for the first hemodialysis unit for children in Saskatchewan.

According to a media release, the two-day event raised $641,157 and was broadcasted over 23 radio stations from across Saskatchewan, including Jim Pattison Broadcast group stations in Prince Albert, The Battlefords, Meadow Lake and Melfort.

The hemodialysis unit for children is being brought to the province as part of the Children’s Kidney Health Program. The money raised will also go toward an ambulatory blood pressure monitoring satellite for children with high blood pressure due to kidney failure.

“Thank you Saskatchewan from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly grateful to each person who took the time to call or went online to make a meaningful donation this year’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon. Every miracle that happens through the new pediatric hemodialysis unit at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital is because of your generosity,” Brynn Boback-Lane, the president and CEO of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, said. “We couldn’t have done this without our amazing Saskatchewan radio station family. Thanks to all for supporting this important initiative.”

The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation would like to thank the presenting sponsor CIBC Wood Gundy as well as everyone involved with the event. They would also like to thank the event sponsors including CP, SaskTel, Save on Foods, Affinity Credit Union, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Crescent Point, Viterra, GMR Electric, Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation, Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan, Enbridge, Schaan Healthcare, Federated Co-op, Geransky Bros. Construction, CommAlert, and the broadcasting media partners.

Over $13.94 million has been raised in the history of the radiothon in the past 19 years for children in the hospital.
