Coast 2 Coast Closeup – Doug Folkins

Doug Folkins is a signed artist/songwriter with Nashville publisher Lynn Gann Music Enterprises. More than 90 of his songs have been recorded by artists in the US & Canada, including over 40 radio singles and multiple song placements on The Voice, CNN, OWN, Animal Planet & NatGeo.

Doug has performed at the 2019 CCMA Songwriters Series in Calgary, The Listening Room in Nashville and at multiple BCCMA Songwriters Rounds in Vancouver. His song “I Can’t Blame Her” won “Best Country Song” at the 2018 Canadian Songwriting Competition.

Making regular trips to Nashville since 2014, Doug co-writes with many Nashville hit makers and recognized Canadian artists: Aaron Goodvin, Chris Buck, Drew Gregory, Makayla Lynn, The River Town Saints, James Barker, Adam Gregory, and Buck Twenty among others.

In August, 2018, Doug released his EP, “Riding The Brakes”, which includes the single “Wait On The Weekend”. This debut single reached #1 on True North Country Indie Row charts and peaked at #94 on the Canadian Country Mediabase charts.

Doug was nominated for both BC Country Music Association’s “2018 SOCAN Songwriter of the Year” for his co-written song “Midnight & Bourbon” and Alberta Country Music Association’s “2018 SOCAN Song of the Year” award for his co-written song. “Safe Harbour”.
