A man accused of shooting another man in Île-à-la-Crosse has been charged with his suspected relation to the incident.

On January 19, Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP were dispatched after a local hospital reported a patient with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police said the 36-year-old victim drove himself to the hospital where he received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

With assistance from the Beauval RCMP detachment, Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP located the suspect at a local residence. Once officers arrived on scene, the suspect surrendered himself to police and was taken into custody without incident.

Thirty-year-old Jesse Durocher was charged with aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm with intent and possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order.
