Feb 17, 2021 | 12:00 PM

An investigation of a break-and-enter at a church in Buffalo Narrows has led to the arrest of a 49-year-old male.

On the morning of Feb. 14, Buffalo Narrows RCMP were informed the Church of St. Leo the Great had been broken into during the night. According to a police report, several religious artifacts had been stolen, including a tabernacle, chalices, robes and crosses.

Later that day, officers located some of the stolen items near the catholic cemetery when they spotted an adult male suspect near the church. Further investigation into the incident led police to request and execute a search warrant at a residence in Buffalo Narrows on Feb. 15. Officers arrested a suspect on scene and recovered many of the stolen items.

Dean Chartier (49) from Buffalo Narrows faces several charges including break-and-enter and theft.
