Local business bringing back community clean-up promotion
With a significant amount of snow melted and washed away from the Meadow Lake area, a local business is acting fast and getting a head start on spring cleaning.
Eatery on Main is bringing back its Community Garbage Clean Up to remove waste and trash scattered in the area. The event debuted last year when Eatery created a post on Facebook informing people that they would be rewarded with a free beverage after providing proof of them filling a bag with litter. Once word of the event spread throughout the area, other local businesses and organizations including the City of Meadow Lake, chipped in to the event with prizes of their own to extend the promotion.
Kassidy Dunsing, Owner of Eatery on Main, mentioned last year’s event was well-received by the community and that significant participation is what led to the event being so successful.
“At the end of that week, we had literally picked hundreds of bags of garbage from here to Dorintosh and Loon Lake. It kind of went viral and that was super cool. This year, we’re just trying to get the ball rolling on it and really trying to get people involved right off the bat,” Dunsing said.
