UPDATED: Wanted suspect apprehended by Meadow Lake RCMP after extended absence

The Meadow Lake RCMP has arrested a man they have been searching for since the early spring.

On May 16, police responded to several complaints regarding a man with a metal pole trying to break into a home at the 100 block of 7th Avenue West in Meadow Lake.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect was located and apprehended after a brief foot chase. A search revealed the suspect to be in possession of nearly 42 grams of cocaine in a bag.

Brenden Tyler Yew of Waseca, Sask. has been charged with several offences, including possession with the purpose of trafficking, evading arrest, possession of proceeds from a crime and failure to comply with a release order.

Yew was also arrested in on outstanding charges filed by the Maidstone RCMP and Edmonton Police Service.

After appearing in court on May 17, Yew remains in custody and is expected to return to court on May 31 for a bail hearing.
