Trena’s east coast roots run deep and shine through her music, her writing and her voice. Music was a huge part of her upbringing, a common bond that brought the family together. Trena’s writing style and song choices are influenced by a wide range of musical genres; Country, Blues, Rock, and Pop. Trena’s love and passion for
singing and writing was greatly influenced by listening and watching her mother perform. The 90’s saw Trena appearing in numerous talent shows, variety shows, competed in the CBC television talent search Dream Seekers and found herself in Nashville auditioning for The Charlie Daniels Talent round up. In 2001 Trena competed in the PNE talent showcase.
Trena stepped away from music and performing to raise a family, but the music never left her. Instead it filled her own home and her children’s lives as it did for her when she was young. Trena once again found her way back to the stage when she competed and won the Kootenay’s Best Singer competition in 2012. The musical flood gates opened again and Trena found herself performing and writing.
Trena’s first single “Cowboy” released in March of 2018 was a song she co-wrote with her mother Shirley Gillison. The single gained Trena fans internationally, the song was added to a number radio stations playlists from the UK to Australia. “Cowboy” was also nominated for song of the year at the 4th Annual Josie Music Awards, an internationally recognized award show for independent artists.
Trena released her first album “Long Time Coming” in December 2018, the album was produced by Ron Mahonin and satisfies all 4 parts CanCon. The album’s title track “Long Time Coming” reached #24 on The Joyce Ramgatie International Country Music Top 40 Single Chart, and Trena reached #90 on the Top 200 Artist Chart. The album held on to #1 for 4 weeks on Airplay Directs Top 50 Country Chart
