Orange in our communities brings a significant increase of awareness
The day to wear for Orange for awareness of missing indigenous children is in September. But the news last week from Kamloops B.CÂ has flags at half-mast across the country today and people encouraging each other to wear Orange for awareness. June is also National Indigenous History Month.
The motto of Orange shirt day is: Every Child Matters. You can read more about the history here: orangeshirtday.org
Canada's last residential school closed in 1996. The residential school system is part of Canada's very recent history and its impacts are a significant part of our present. Wear your orange shirt on Monday, May 31 in honor of victims and survivors. pic.twitter.com/xZafSGEOZe

Such a sad day in Canada today. Flags are being lowered, orange shirts are everywhere. In memory of the 215 children found in unmarked graves. Yes, unmarked!! This is the start. #bringthemhome The govt needs to step up and match the children with family who loved them.
