Meadow Lake 15U Sox seeking volunteer assistance with 2021 Provincial Championship tournament

The Meadow lake 15U Sox team has several brief volunteering vacancies ahead of this year’s Baseball Provincial Championships.

With Lions’ Park planned to be the stage for several games between July 23-25, the tournament is asking the public for assistance with scorekeeping, monitoring the pitch count, helping with the admission gate and announcing the games.

Jason Kirilenko said while the team does have some support lined up ahead of the games, additional volunteer help is desired to lighten the workload.

“We have a great group of parent volunteers, but the more we can get from the community makes it a little easier on us, as well,” he said.

Volunteers will need to be available throughout the weekend, with the first bit of action expected to begin on Friday afternoon. Specific game times have not yet been determined. Anyone interested in lending a hand to the current crew of volunteers is asked to contact Jason through Facebook by direct message on the Meadow Lake Minor Ball page or his personal inbox.

As things start to fall into place with the event’s organization, the Meadow lake 15U Sox are preparing to make a run at this year’s tournament. The Sox’s current record for the season stands at 10 wins and 3 losses. Kirilenko said the Sox are well-positioned to see success in the post-season with the way the players are performing on the field.

“The core of this team has been together since about 2015. The team returned this year, and they’re doing really well. We’ve got a really good team, and they’re playing really high-caliber ball.”

Further details regarding the tournament will be released as they become available.
