Meadow Lake RCMP arrest man following weapons complaint
The Meadow Lake RCMP stated a man was taken into custody following an incident involving firearms at a residency.
On July 15, police responded to weapons complaints at a residence located on First Street West. When they arrived on scene, they noticed the home had been hit by several rounds of ammunition. During a brief investigation of the incident, officers recognized a vehicle similar to the one described in earlier reports. The vehicle attempted to evade police, but was eventually subdued in a field where the driver was arrested.
Because of these events, 26-year-old Creeson Merasty has been charged with two counts of mischief over $5,000, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Merasty was remanded to Meadow Lake Provincial Court before being released from custody on specified conditions. Police continue to investigate the incident, and it is believed this was a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence.
