Province reports 85 new cases of COVID-19, one death

The Government of Saskatchewan is reporting 85 new cases of COVID-19, which brings the provincial total to 50,388.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are located in Far North West (six), Far North Central (two), Far North East (three), North West (eight), North Central (nine), North East (one) and one new case have pending residence information. Three cases with pending residence information were assigned to Far North East (from August 4(1)), Saskatoon (from August 4(1)) and South East (from August 1(1)).

Two Sask. residents tested out-of-province were added to the Regina (from July 29(1)) and pending (from August 3(1)) zones.

One new death was reported today and in total 582 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.2 per cent.

There are 549 cases considered active and 49,207 are considered recovered.

Another 3,707 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been reported today by the provincial government. Of that daily total, 913 were new first doses and 2,794 are fully vaccinated.

NITHA data

As of Aug. 5, there are 123 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 27; Far North West, 44; Far North East, 44; North Central, six; and North East, two zones. There are 40,451 cases (96 per cent) recovered, and four people are hospitalized.

There are 37 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; 10, Far North West, 19; and Far North East, eight; North Central, 0; and North East, 0 zones.
