Green Lake Shooting

Green Lake, Meadow Lake RCMP arrest two suspects following shooting

Aug 10, 2021 | 5:02 PM

Two individuals remain in police custody ahead of scheduled court appearances later this month for their alleged involvement in a shooting that happened earlier this month.

Near midnight on Aug. 1, officers from the Meadow Lake and Green Lake RCMP detachments were dispatched to a residence on Beaver Road in Green Lake after receiving reports of a shooting in the area.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound on the ground outdoors. The victim was transported to hospital with what are described as serious injuries.

The RCMP do not have an update on the man’s condition.

Police determined during their investigation that a male suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers were able to track down the suspect, but the driver ignored prompts from police to pull over the vehicle along Highway 55. After a briefly extended pursuit, the driver stopped the vehicle and was arrested along with a female passenger.

Scott Maurice from Saskatoon, Sask. was charged with several weapons and evasion-related offences, including failure to comply with demand for a breath sample, aggravated assault and unlicensed possession of a firearm.

The passenger, Marcella Esperanse of Beardy’s First Nation, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm/weapon/ammunition in a motor vehicle.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
