NorthWest Community Lodge Association brings back charity golf tournament

Before the summer comes to an end, the NorthWest Community Lodge Association (NCLA) is hosting what is expected to be the final charity golf tournament of the season.

The event returns for the second-consecutive year as the NCLA continues to drive their fundraising efforts through the end of the second half of the organization’s $2.7-million goal.

In an interview with meadowlakeNOW, secretary Felicia Adams shared the NCLA had originally thought last year’s tournament would only be a one-time event. After reflecting on the success and engagement throughout the affair, leaders opted to host the tournament once again.

“We weren’t sure how successful it was going to be. After last year; all the comments people made and how much money we raised, we thought it would be a good idea to continue.”

“Last year, we had just a really fun day. It wasn’t anything serious. People were playing music, there was lots of food and drinks, and it was just a really great atmosphere. We had heard lots of reaction of how excited people were, and they hoped we were going to do it again this year. They really wanted to support us in whatever way they can. So, we’re really looking forward to the day. We’re just hoping for good weather.”

Registration for the upcoming tournament is currently set at a price of $100 per person in a four-player scramble-style game consisting of 18 holes. The NCLA is expected to have two hole-in-one sponsors for the day, however, this detail has not yet been finalized. There will be several other sponsors throughout the course providing participants with prizes depending on what challenges are completed.

The tournament is set to take place on Saturday, August 28. Tee times are available between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. On the event’s promotional poster, the NCLA stated a dinner would be included in the tournament. After receiving clarification, it has been determined that entrants will likely receive a voucher for a meal in lieu of a scheduled dining gathering.

Adams mentioned the NCLA recently calculated the total amount of money raised for the new facility, adding the funding is said to be in the range of $1.3 million. The money being raised is expected to go toward installing room fixtures and furnishing the long-term care facility’s suites.

The NCLA is still running its 72-residency challenge where donors can contribute $12,000 to completely cover the cost of furnishings a room. Anyone interested in assisting with fundraising can make a donation on the NCLA’s website.
