COVID-19 testing issues identified at provincial laboratory
The COVID-19 update delay from yesterday has been explained with the provinical Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority announcing some testing issues have been identified at the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory.
In a Facebook post this afternoon, the Saskatchewan government explained the issue has resulted in a large number of invalid tests.
“Specifically, this testing issue impacts a number of tests that identified positive cases within several Regina LTC facilities, which have since been identified as invalid after being re-tested. In order to confirm that invalid tests are negative, the lab will work to validate results to confirm a negative test,” stated the post.
Family for long-term care residents identified as false-positive that have since tested negative and for residents living in impacted facilities are being notified immediately.
