Coast 2 Coast Closeup – Jerry Sereda
Growing up in the Parkland region of Manitoba, Jerry Sereda grew up embracing his Indigenous roots and learning how to hunt, fish, trap and live off the land. During these times Jerry also learned the importance of hard work, dedication, and family. It was through his family that he learned to love music, and under the guidance of his grandmother he picked up the guitar and learned to play modern, and classic country music. This love of music drove Jerry to find opportunities perform in front of audiences so he could share the emotions, and passion he felt within music.
Jerry’s first single “Time” was recorded and released through the support of Indigenous music programs. The opportunity and process to record an original song was all it took to light the fire within Jerry to pursue music as more than just a hobby. After numerous albums, several nominations at the WCMA’s, APCMA’s (where he won Best New Artist), and several charting singles (including several #1’s on the Indigenous Music Charts) it is safe to say that Jerry has no intentions of slowing down or stopping the music.
