Province reports 439 new cases of COVID-19, 80 per cent among the unvaccinated

The province is reporting another high case day of 439 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Sixty-five per cent of cases, 285 of the 439, are in residents who are under 40 years old with nearly 100 new cases in children ages 0-11 who cannot currently be vaccinated.

Of the new cases, 80 per cent are in residents who have not received their vaccinations yet.

The northern zones of the province are also experiencing a high number of positive cases with 175 new cases in the six zones alone; Far North West (22), Far North East (39), North West (61), North Central (42), and North East (11).

Todays new totals brings the total to 60,589 reported cases; 4,064 cases considered active and 55,895 cases considered recovered.

One-third (33.3 per cent) of new cases are in the 19 years and under age category.

More than one in seven (16.4 per cent) new cases were fully vaccinated.

One new death reported today meaning 630 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died and a provincial case fatality rate of 1.0 per cent.

NITHA Data

As of Sept. 15, there are 37 new cases to report today in NITHA communities, 24 (65 per cent) were unvaccinated, five (14 per cent) are partially vaccinated and eight (21 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 394 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 20; Far North West, 37; Far North East, 225; North Central, 59; and North East, 53.

There are 30 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; one, Far North West, 10; and Far North East, eight; North Central, seven; and North East, four.

There have been 5,101 cases (92 per cent) that have recovered, and 12 people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA)

With no new cases or recoveries reported on Sept. 15, the active case count in the Athabasca Health Authority sits at 14

There is now no COVID patients in Black Lake with 137 active cases in AHA communities and one death since June 2021. Since the pandemic began, AHA has reported there has been 492 total cases of COVID-19.
