Meadow Lake supports local organization through Smile Cookie campaign

Smiles were trending for some people in the community last week as a popular national fundraising campaign made its annual return to support a local organization.

Meadow Lake’s Tim Horton’s franchise recently hosted their Smile Cookie campaign. The event focuses on the sale of gleefully decorated chocolate chunk cookies for a dollar plus tax. All of the proceeds from cookie sales are then donated to local charities in the community.

Throughout this year’s campaign, the Meadow Lake location had 2,512 cookies purchased over the course of a week. This performance comes as a positive for the team at the local fast-food chain as the target set for cookie sales was set at 2,000 cookies.

Restaurant manager Analiza Prado explained the beneficiary of this campaign is the Northland Pioneer Lodge, and she’s flattered to have the opportunity to support the local organization with this promotion.

“We appreciate those customers who buy cookies, because we know all the proceeds go to the local charity and in that way, we can help,” she said.

“We love to share what the importance of it every year. My staff and I appreciate every customer and every single dollar.”

She added she looks forward to the annual campaign each year as the promotion seems to bring positive energy and excitement into work each day.

One of her highlights that she enjoys is when customers purchase larger amounts of the cookies, which she say gets the crew excited as they can prepare more cookies and draw smiles on the dessert.

She adds the item has some popularity around it, which makes the sales come relatively easy throughout the day bringing a little more fun and enjoyment into the workplace.

“When we get bigger orders of them, we yell ‘oh, we’ve got this. Go, go, go,’” she said.

“There are a few customers in the drive-thru who buy smile cookies and don’t take them, but tell us to give it to the next person.”

meadowlakeNOW reached out to the Northland Pioneer Lodge for a comment on the fundraiser, but did not receive a response.
