Five deaths and 107 new cases of COVID-19 in province; lowest daily total since Aug. 17

As of Nov. 2, there are 107 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan and currently, 1,829 active cases

Of the new cases Tuesday, 68 are among those who are unvaccinated, including 21 between the ages of 0-11.

About 28 new cases are found in Northern Saskatchewan; the Far North West (nine), Far North East (three), North West (12), North Central (two) and North East (two). There are currently 501 cases currently active in the six northern zones of the province.

The province is reporting another five COVID-related deaths which brings the total to 859 Saskatchewan residents that have died from the virus.

Since the pandemic began there have been 77,902 reported cases, 75,214 cases are considered recovered.

Less than one-third (31.8 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39 years.

Less than half (40.7 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

As of Nov. 2, a total of 222 people are in hospital, including 48 in the ICU. Of the 222 patients, 154 (69.4) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Saskatchewan ICU patients, there are 26 residents in intensive care in Ontario. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in the daily update.

COVID-19 Summary for November 2, 2021:

From Oct. 27 to Nov. 2 there were 1,295 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan. There were also 1,972 recoveries recorded during the same period.

The province reported 32 deaths from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2.

From Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, there were 14,989 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

From Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, 21,108 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,670,748.

As of Nov. 2, about 86 per cent of those 12 and over have received their first dose and 78 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.

Public Health Orders Will Be Enforced

During the week of Oct. 25, Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) public health inspectors issued a number of fines:

  • Two individual fines of $2,800 were issued at Tobin Lake for failure to mask as well as one corporate ticket to the Shorebird Inn at Tobin Lake for failure to screen for proof of vaccination or negative test. The voluntary payment option for the $14,000 corporate fine will not be available for this fine. As this recipient has had previous tickets, a court appearance is required to speak to the charge.
  • Scott’s Fine Foods in Leader was issued a corporate fine of $14,000 for failure to screen for proof of vaccination or negative test.
  • The Beacon in Caronport was issued a corporate fine of $14,000 for failure to screen for proof of vaccination or negative test.

Note that under The Health Information and Privacy Act, the Ministry of Health cannot disclose the names of individuals who have received fines.

NITHA numbers

There were 14 new cases reported on Nov. 1 in NITHA communities; 10 (72 per cent) were unvaccinated, three (21 per cent) are partially vaccinated and one (seven per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 129 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are found in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 32; Far North East, 58; North Central, 26; and North East, 13. There have been 6656 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

No new cases were reported from the Athabasca Health Authority (AHA). No active cases have been reported by the AHA for the last two weeks.
