North Battleford, Meadow Lake, Unity, Wilkie compete for gold

UPDATE: JP II Collegiate and McLurg High School have won 4A and 2A provincials. Carpenter High and Unity Composite finished in second.

After losing a week ago to Carpenter High at regionals, the John Paul II Collegiate Crusaders will get their rematch in Saturday’s provincial final.

JP II faces their rivals from Meadow Lake after both teams went undefeated in pool play and the first two playoff rounds.

The Unity Composite Warriors have realized a dream, playing in the 3A provincial final as hosts. They face Valley Christian Academy from Osler, the only team to defeat them in pool play.

In the 2A tournament, McLurg High from Wilkie will play for gold against Cornerstone Christian from Moose Jaw, after dominating Maidstone in the semifinals. Prior to the final four, the Huskies themselves knocked off host St. Walburg in a very competitive two-set match.

All gold medal matches begin at 5:30 p.m.
